"My activism always existed. My art gave me the platform to do something about the activism."

AUGUST WILSON IN THE PARK
The inaugural celebration of one of America's greatest playwrights took place August 4, 2024 with a stirring performance of SEVEN GUITARS set against the vibrant backdrop of Houston's Third Ward at Emancipation Park. This production was directed by one of Houston's brightest rising talents, Destyne Miller.
Stay tuned for more information about the next celebration!
Alley Theatre’s NEA Big Read
I was thrilled to facilitate sessions around love, resilience and identity with the Alley Theatre as part of the National Endowment of the Arts's Big Read program. The workshop was part of a wider celebration of Zora Neale Hurston's irreplaceable classic, THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD.

HOUSTON BIPOC ARTS NETWORK FUND
I have the immense pleasure of being one of BANF's community storytellers and recipient of a 2025 grant! I am working with them to help artistically document the stories of our Houston Cultural Treasures so they are not lost to time. Learn more about BANF, and the awesome work they do, at the link below!
HISTORIC THIRD WARD TOUR
The tour is a documentary; a collection of interviews, historical information, storytelling by artists, activists and community elders, all celebrating the heritage of Houston's Third Ward. Because the tour is online, the information has been accessible to not only the residents of Third Ward but the greater Houston community! This was made possible through collaborating with Project Row Houses and Catastrophic Theatre!

THE BLACK POWER ARTS CELEBRATION
In 2022, I received the Support for Artists and Creative Individuals Grant awarded by Mayor Sylvester Turner and the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance to bring a 3-Day celebration centered around The Black Panther Party and artists serving in the community!
